Hi my name is Rehaan Khaneja and this video is the first of a series of interviews and chats I have had with successful leaders of India's business world.

INTRODUCTION

In my first video in the leadership speaks series of interviews I speak with Abhishek Somany, managing director of Somany ceramics.

Founded in 1969, Mr. Abhishek Somany took over the running of his family owned company from an early age and from there, went on to make Somany Ceramics the unchallenged leader in India's ceramics industry. From a family owned manufacturing business, Mr. Somany has transformed this Indian company into a truly multinational brand spanning three continents.

I was most interested to know how Mr. Somany managed to achieve all this this having started so young. What can we learn from Mr. Somany's achievements? Let's ask Mr. Somany himself in this 1st episode of Leadership speaks... watch the whole interview.

KEY LEARNINGS

During my chat with Mr. Somany, two points struck me the most -

1st: It was really interesting how family businesses plan to ensure smooth handover from an older to the younger generation - I'm sure some of you watching might have family businesses - your decision to join and make it more successful, or choosing to branch out on your own separate career - This decision could be truly life changing.

And 2nd: The importance of having a mentor as a guide increases an entrepreneur's chances of business success. This can apply not only in business and career, but in life in general. Read my blog on Business Mentorship where I have some more insights into this interesting topic.

This is the first in a series of many interviews I will conduct with business leaders and people who have achieved success in their lives. My goal is always to learn from their experience and to see what key choices they made in their lives which contributed to their current success.
