Mr. Gaurav Sekhri is Chairman & Managing Director at Fratelli
Hi my name is Rehaan Khaneja and this is the 26th podcast in the Leadership Speaks series where I interview the most successful and influential leaders of India.
INTRODUCTION
Mr. Gaurav Sekhri is Chairman & Managing Director at Fratelli Vineyards Ltd, India's largest Vineyard and second largest wine maker. He is also the Joint Managing Director & Executive Director at Tinna Rubber & Infrastructure Ltd.
Having completed his undergrad degree at Richmond College of London, Mr. Sekhri has built an extensively diverse career. He started off at the age of 20 when he was trying to expand his family's shoe business in England. Once that got settled he ventured into the agricultural and edible oil business and dealt with port handling as part of the same ecosystem.
Mr. Sekhri has experience of over 22 years in Trading business. The founding of Tinna Group / Tinna Rubber along with his family diversified with a goal to recycle tyres to innovate and design compounds.
Mr. Shekri entered the wine business with Fratelli via a highly successful and efficient share swap deal to rapidly become a major wine maker in India. This strategic transition from agricultural trading to wine production highlights Mr. Sekhri's ever-readiness to explore new avenues for growth.
"India is not known for fine wines - it's a perception issue which we aim to change via Taste Tests, and let the product speak for itself. Experiencing the quality of our wines by sampling them is the best way to overcome perceptions."
In this interview, Mr. Sekhri's mantra for entrepreneurial success includes being forever curious, question everything and challenge the status quo. It's how new entrants to any business can play with larger established players in that field by being better and more efficient than them.
"For an entrepreneur to succeed, curiosity is very important. Question everything, and keep challenging the status quo. Only then can you play with larger established players in that field - by being better and more efficient than them."
- Gaurav Sehkri
